g Starting a blog could be intimidating and overwhelming. This article is all about starting a blog on *blogger.com* for free and it is dedicated to newbies. There are alot of blogs popping up here and there on the internet. According to *bloggerlessons.com* "Each day, millions of article/post/stories get published on the internet and more than two hundred new blogs created." So why can't you have one? The truth is you can have one if you follow the steps in this article. Before we head for the steps let me introduce you to blogger.com. 1. What is blogger.com?: blogger.com is a free blogging platform owned by google. You can create a free blog on it using .blogspot.com domain. 2. Why starting a blog on blogger.com? There are many merits on starting a blog on blogger.com. Below are some of them; i. Blogger is free and easy to use. ii. There is gurranted trust since it is owned by google. iii. It has the highest freedom and features compared to any other free blogging site such as wix, tumblr, weebly e.t.c. iv. It has a good communication system. v. It can earn you a living. Now that you know why you should start a blog on blogger, let's head to the steps in creating it. 1. Login into your google account, if you don't have one *sign up* now. 2. Go to *blogger.com* and sign into your account using your google credentials. 3. Create your blog: click on "new blog" option to start creating your blogger blog. 4. Blog tittle: a new window will pop up and you will have to fill the details. i. Enter your blog name. Your blog name should not just be random, let it have a connection with your niche. For example the following blogs are in the technological niche; techcabal, techpaded, techwise. You can easily tell that this blogs are about technology. If you do not still know the perfect name to choose for your blog the *contact me* i will help you for free. ii. Enter your blog address. Your address should be the same with your tittle. For example if your blog tittle is "Aliens are real" then your blog address should be "aliensarereal.blogspot.com" that is if you are using a free domain, if you are using a custom domain it should be "aliensarereal.com" or .org or .net depending on the kind of custom domain you buy. Before we continue with steps, WHAT NICHE SHOULD ONE CHOOSE? Most people will say you should blog about what you are passionate about. I have nothing wrong with it but i will advice you choose a niche that you have so much knowledge about. If you think you don't have any knowledge about anything bloggable then you might take part on free online courses or paid online courses (don't spend what you don't have) or better still you can blog about yourself. Let's continue with the steps. 5. Launch your blog: i divided this one into two parts for better understanding. a. Cold launch: you simply just hit the "create blog" button to cold launch. You can always change your initial selections. In case you do not what i use cold launch to mean here. I used it to mean you just launch your blog but you don't share your blog url on any social media platform or anywhere on the internet. b. Hot launch: now you blog is live but just creating a blog is just a step in a thousand steps. You still have alot of changes to make. You will have to; i. Optimize your blogger blog for search engines. You can read about it *here* ii. Customize your blogger blog: on your dashboard you will find "layout" and "theme" tabs. It is there you do all your customization e.g blogger widgets, blog colour, template e.t.c. I will recommend you change the default template because it is boring (just a personal view). The below videos will help you to learn how to customize your blog and how to upload a new template. Disclaimer: the videos you are about to watch is not a product of teknoteable. Now that you have your blog set up and customized it is time for content creation. iii. Content creation: to create your post, click on "post", click "new post". A blog post editor screen will now be displayed as shown below. After finishing your article writting, type in a perfect post title for it in the post title area. Click on "publish" tab to publish your post. Fantastic! Your first post is out to the world. Have up to fitheen posts (each post should not be less than one thousand words if it is not a review) before you hot launch - that is before you start sharing your blog /blog post link on social media and to friends and be family. Be patient it will a take a bit of time to get your blog indexed by google, teknoteable took up to three months before it was indexed. The reason why google does this is to check your blog credibility and avalability. 6. Generate traffic: you will have to generate not less than a thousand organic views daily. If you do good search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and email marketing, trust me you will get tons of traffic. But be warned if you want to earn from adsense with your blog then you must stay away from traffic bots else google will never accepts you on adsense and it will also reduce your rank on search engines. 7. Monetization: this is the heaven every blogger is trying their best to get to. Everyone want's to earn but without determination and patience you won't succed. There are many ways you could earn with your blog. A few amongst many are selling ad spaces, affilliate marketing, selling services e.t.c.
